Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Vice-Chancellor Dr C Ramasamy has suggested that India's target to produce 140 million MT of rice by 2025 could be achieved by increasing its production by over two million MT per year through the implementation of System of Rice Intensification (SRI). SRI was initiated by Fr Henri De Laulanie, as a part of civil society in Madagascar to increase rice productivity. This method would constructively reduce capital, fertilizer, labour and water and enrich the soil in the plant's rhizosphere, he said. |
