According to the recent statistics released by Indonesia's central statistics bureau, Indonesia's production of unmilled rice is expected to rise this year by 4.7% to 59.9 million MT due to an increase in harvested areas and improved yields.

Unmilled rice output this year had previously been estimated at 58.3 million MT by the bureau.

Indonesia has been trying to increase its local food production to keep inflation down and prices of main staples like rice, corn and soybeans stable, especially amid soaring global prices of such commodities.
