According to the Philippines agriculture department, The Philippine National Food Authority may hold its next tender in June or July to buy the remainder of its rice import requirement to ensure well-timed arrival of the grain.

The state-run NFA has so far signed contracts to buy 1.71 million MT of rice, out of an import quota of 2.1 million MT.
