According to Brazilian Census Bureau, IBGE, Brazil should harvest 11.9 million MT of rice, up 0.3% from the March estimate made by the agricultural statistics department of the Census Bureau.

Brazil although is not a major rice exporter, but concerns of rice shortages around the world has led the government to sell its official rice stocks to the local market only and not for exports.

Brazil has been receiving inquiries and requests to export more rice to Africa on account of rice shortages in some countries there.
