Chicago Board of Trade rice futures closed higher Tuesday amid strength in outside markets, the slow pace of planting and the potential effects from the cyclone in Myanmar.

May rice rose 10 cents to $20.82 per cwt, July rice gained 10 cents to $21.10 and November rice rallied 4 cents to $19.10.
