According to Malaysian Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed, the Malaysian government has decided to implement short, medium and long-term measures in order to boost paddy production.

The government has also prepared a Food Security Policy as a measure to guarantee adequate supplies of food, especially rice, following the global rise in prices.
