Chicago Board of Trade rice futures closed solidly higher Friday on continued concerns about shrinking global supplies and strong demand.

May rice jumped 41 cents at $23.71 per cwt after setting a fresh high of $24.35 1/2 overnight. The contract ended up $2.79 on the week.
