The Philippines National Food Authority has announced that the planned Philippine rice auction next month involving about 500,000 MT of rice will be limited to government suppliers barring all private exporters including trading houses.

The NFA had initially considered pursuing government-to-government deals in procuring its rice import requirement for the year.

Philippines is Asia's largest rice importer, is also holding a tender April 17 to buy 500,000 MT of the grain.
