Thailand's Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has once again urged the public not to hoard rice, while promising for the second time in three days there is enough for rice for the domestic market in the kingdom.

The rising global prices have sparked panic buying, as people stock up in hoping to beat the future price hikes. Meanwhile exporters have also accused mills and middlemen of hoarding in hopes of more price increases in the near future.

International demand for Thai rice has soared after other top exporters Vietnam and India imposed limits on exports to ensure domestic supply.
