The Philippines has announced its plans to buy another 500,000 MT of rice next month in a bid to shore up its domestic supplies amid the ongoing surging prices and dwindling global supplies.

Philippines National Food Authority, NFA bought 335,500 MT Tuesday, mostly from Vietnam and Thailand, bringing the country's rice imports so far this year to around 1.2 million MT.
