According to the chairman of the Multi-Commodity Exchange of India, MCX, India is expected to lift the ban on futures trading in wheat, rice and lentils by the end of the year.

The Indian government had ended trading in the three commodities in February 2007 amid concerns that speculators in the market were inflating prices, but a high-level committee recently ruled out any link between exchange trading and price hike.
