India has decided to honor its past commitments to Bangladesh by exporting five lakh MT of rice at $ 400 PMT despite the ongoing ban on export of any kind of non-basmati rice.

According to the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty friendly ties between the two nations would not suffer due to the recent ban on exports of low-priced rice and committed aid would reach Bangladesh in phases, depending on India's budget allocations and stocks of commodities.
