According to official estimates, Pakistan's rice production in the crop year ending in June is expected to rise by 1 million MT to reach 5.5 million MT.

Pakistan's advisory board has also estimated that basmati rice production in 2007-08 is expected to rise to 2.5 million MT from 2.0 million MT a year earlier.

Pakistan's rice exports in 2007-08 are expected to rise to $1.3 billion-$1.5 billion, up from $1.1 billion a year earlier.
