Pakistan Approve Four New Hybrid Varieties

Pakistan's Variety Evaluation Committee (VEC) has recommended four new rice hybrids to achieve the objectives of enhancing standard and quantity of its production for the benefit of growers and the country.

The hybrids have been tested and screened by various private firms in collaboration with Federal and Provincial Agricultural Research Institutions through out the country.

VEC recommend four proposals after in depth analysis of the technical data submitted by M/s Bayer Crop Science (Pvt.) Ltd for commercial cultivation in the country. ARIZE 403 developed by M/s Bayer Crop Science (Pvt.) Karachi is a high yielding. This hybrid is resistant to blast disease. Dagha-1 developed by M/s Dagha Corporation (Pvt.) Ltd. Karachi is a hybrid rice of Chinese origin. The other two varieties, Guard 402 and Guard 403 have been developed M/s Guard Agricultural Research & Services (Pvt.) Ltd. Lahore.
