Thailand rice exporters are likely to sell around 200,000 MT of rice to Iranian traders before the end of March despite the ongoing higher prices.

Iranian traders are seeking to import Thai rice even at current levels in a bid to ensure adequate local supplies due to adverse weather conditions.

Iran is expected to buy around 1 million tons of rice this year, mostly from Thailand. The country imported 610,000 MT of Thai rice last year, with 510,000 MT in government-to-government deals.
