Egypt Stops Exports To Focus On Domestic Needs

Egypt's Rice Committee at the Agricultural Commodity Council have temporarily decided to voluntary stop exporting rice in order to increase supplies on the local market.

The move comes amid rising domestic rice prices and it is expected to help in providing rice to consumers at reasonable prices.

Experts blame the shortage on local traders who allegedly buy large quantities of rice and store them to control prices.
