Taiwan To Offer Higher Price For Domestic Rice

Taiwan's Council of Agriculture has decided to offer higher unit prices per Kg for the purchase of domestic rice in order to help offset higher production costs.

According to the new plan, the Council of Agriculture will offer an extra NT$2 for each kilogram of rice that the government purchases from domestic rice farmers.

Local rice farmers in Taiwan have been fighting higher production costs and lower profits in recent years, as a result of the higher cost of fertilizers and oil products for their rice-farming machines.
