Pakistan's caretaker government has given a go-ahead to its commerce ministry to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia for export of Irri-6 and Basmati rice from 2008 to 2012, subject to production and requirement situation in both countries at international prices.

The demand to import rice was forwarded by Indonesian President Director of Bulog, which is the sole authority for import of rice to Indonesia.
