After India announced to lift its ban on rice exports on humanitarian grounds to help Bangladesh after the recent cyclone Sidr, there are rumors floating in Bangladesh alleging that the rice exported by India is rotten and low grade.

Market sources however believe that the rumors are nothing but politically motivated by a section of Bangladeshi analysts known for their traditional India baiting for political gains.

The Indian government had decided to lift its ban on export of non-basmati rice to Bangladesh priced below $400 PMT last month.
