According to latest figures, India's central government has so far managed to purchase only 10.5 million MT of rice from farmers as of Friday, down 5.2% on year.

India's rice marketing year starts in October and ends in September. The government purchases rice from farmers at state-set intervention prices to run its subsidized rice sale programs.
