USA Rice Federation Senior Vice President Bob Cummings has said that the results of the voluntary testing program have showed that the long grain rice in the U.S. is nearly free of any genetically modified traits.

According to some of the results published by USA Rice, all but 0.5% registered negative for traits from the Bayer AG (BAYRY) biotech Liberty Link line of rice seeds.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, in March, banned the planting of BASF Corp. (BASFY) Clearfield CL131 rice seeds because tests showed the presence of an unapproved biotech trait in seed supplies.
