In order to boost its domestic rice supplies, the Philippines is expected to buy up to 2 million MT of rice next year.

Philippines, which is a major buyer of rice in Asia has so far imported 1.87 million MT of rice this year, mostly from Vietnam.

Philippines rice imports are intended to ensure sufficiency of the grain during the traditional lean production months of July to September.
