Thai Rice Prices Mostly Steady; Importers Eye Thai Rice

Thai rice prices were mostly steady Monday from the
previous week, with most importers eyeing Thai rice over major competitor
Vietnam.

Thai rice exporters expect rice exports to rise this year due to strong
demand from Africa, China and the Middle East.
  Monday, Thai 100% B grade rice was offered at $325 PMT, free on-board Bangkok
basis, compared with $322-$324 PMT offered during much of last week.
 
  Thai 5% broken rice was at $319 PMT, FOB Bangkok, versus $316-$319 PMT the
previous week. 
 
  Thai parboiled 100% sortexed was offered at $319 PMT, FOB Bangkok, compared
with $320-$324 much of last week.
