China, the world's largest rice consumer has decided to increase its rice export from Japan after the two Asian giants reached an agreement to lift China's ban on Japanese rice placed in 2003.

The first batch of Japanese rice after lifting of the ban comprising around 24 MT arrived on shelves in Beijing and Shanghai in July this year.
