Chicago Board of Trade rice futures settled sharply higher Thursday mainly due to a supportive quarterly rice stocks report and also the strong weekly export sales.

September rice jumped 38 cents to $10.69 per hundredweight, November rose 39 cents to $10.99, and January gained 36 cents to $11.28.
