Thailand's Commerce Ministry has announced its plan to hold an auction to sell 868,000 MT of rice from its stocks next week.

The tender is a result of cost cutting from the Thai government by reducing its large stockpiles of rice. Thailand has has about 4 million MT of rice in warehouses and spends 1.2 million Thai baht every year to regulate the stockpiles.
