Thailand has found a way to settle its rice dispute with South Korea, which would make way for Thailand to join a free-trade deal between fellow Southeast Asian countries and South Korea.

Members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, except Thailand, signed an agreement in May 2006 to start freeing up trade barriers as part of plans to create a free trade area by 2012.
