The Philippines National Food Authority, a state-owned grains trading firm, has revealed that it plans to buy 260,000 MT of  25% broken variety rice in a tender due in early september.

The rice is intended to boost local stocks following a delay in the planting of the main crop, which is harvested in the last quarter of the year. The NFA has so far bought 1.61 million tons of rice this year, mostly from Vietnam.
