Chicago Board of Trade rice futures settled sharply lower as Friday's bearish acreage report led to speculative and fund selling and technical weakness adding to the losses.

July rice settled 21 cents lower at $10.39 per hundredweight, and Nov dropped 23 cents to $11.00.
