Miguel de Moya, president of the Dominican Association Owners of Factories of Rice, declared that the rice producers haven’t the mechanisms to recover the investments made in the harvests in case of problems, like those that at the moment face the floods in the regions Northeastern and the Northwest of the Cibao, specially in the Low Yuna and the North Yaque.

Miguel de Moya said that there is only an insuring company of this type in the country, belongs to the government, who could confront a condonation of debt. Although he added, that even this company wouldn’t be able to assure all the national production.
