Chicago Board of Trade rice futures ended with modest gains in thin trading Wednesday, ignoring the rally in the other grains. May rice gained 6 cents to $10.23 per hundredweight and November rose 4 cents to $11.20.

Light speculative buying helped supply support in early trading with the lack of additional buying interest keeping futures in a narrow trading range.
