Ecuador: Rice crop affected by drought

In Ecuador, around 20,000 hectares cultivated with rice and maize was damaged by the drought of last February. Only in Palenque there are 8,000 hectares of maize and 4,000 of rice. After the evaluation made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Live Stock (MAG), a contingency plan has been developed which includes the delivery of rice and maize seeds, fertilizers, construction of deep wells, channels and programs of forestation. |
