Ecuador: New rice variety

A new rice variety that has developed the Independent National Institute of Farming Investigations (Iniap), has been tested in the rice zones of Guayas (Ecuador). Variety Iniap 16, which it was obtained by crossing different varieties of grain from the country, is more robust, because the grains do not fall in the land. Also is more resistant to the presence of diseases.

Its vegetative cycle is of 120 days. The techniques expected that quality is extra long, without spots and with a yield between 9 to 10 MT by hectare.

Is esteemed that will be possible to have three annual harvests with the variety INIAP 16. The commercialization of the seed would begin from June.
