CBOT Rice Review: Lower On Bearish Option Plays

Chicago Board of Trade rough rice futures ended lower across the board Wednesday, as bearish options plays pressured the market.

March rice ended 4 1/2 cents lower at $10.40 per hundredweight, May rice finished 3 cents lower at $10.71, and the November futures settled 5 cents lower at $11.45.

Overall activity was relatively subdued with the buying of November put options the featured attraction of the day, CBOT traders said. The options volume may have been greater than outright futures activity.
