The European Union and Russia have inquired about the quality controls and safety checks applied on rice exports from Pakistan.

The European Union also wanted the status of Genetically Modified Crops, particularly in rice production, as Pakistan exported the commodity to the EU members, they added.

A Russian delegation will visit Pakistan to witness the recently-introduced measures for ensuring safe, secure and contamination-free rice fit for human consumption.

The Russian Federation also requested some other details such as which insecticides and pesticides are being used for treatment.
