Panama: Sowing Of 60.000 Hectares Of Rice

During the present agricultural campaign rice producers of Panama have seeded around 60,000 hectares with this cereal.
According to the minister of Farming Development (MIDA), the national crop that would be collected in January together with the rice imports already approved is sufficient to assure supplying for 2007.
(On April of 2007 1.4 million QM of rice will enter in he country). From the cultivated area it is expected a production of six million QM of rice with a yield of 100 QM by hectare.
