Indonesian state logistics agency Bulog said on Monday six companies have met the requirements for a 100,000 MT rice import tender for delivery between March and April.
The tender is part of the country's previously announced plans to import up to 1.5 million MT of rice this year in an effort to stabilise prices.
Bulog is seeking 50,000 and 25,000 MT of 15 percent broken grade rice from Thailand and Vietnam, respectively, and another 25,000 MT of 10 percent broken Pakistani rice in the auction. Bulog plans to import another 400,000 MT via government-to-government deals.
