The Philippines is currently reviewing an application
from Bayer CropScience (506285.BY) to introduce a genetically modified rice
variety for food, feed and processing, an agriculture official said Wednesday.
If approved, Bayer's LLRICE 62, a herbicide-resistant variety, would be the
first genetically-modified rice allowed in the country.
Three agencies are conducting scientific and technical reviews on the
variety, said the official, a member of the Bureau of Plant Industry's
biotechnology core team.
