The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Ifugao on Monday said the government of Japan has given a P1.4-million (US$28,990) agricultural grant for further rehabilitation of the world-renowned Banaue Rice Terraces.

The grant would complement what was already started by the government. Some 500 farmers in the terraces of Banaue and other areas will be further assisted in providing food for their families and enable them to rehabilitate, protect and maintain the terraces.

In 1993, it was declared as World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
