Philippines seeks to buy 580,000 MT Rice

The Philippines, one of Asia's largest rice importers, said on Friday it would buy 580,000 MT of rice at a tender on February 28, taking imports for the year to over 1.2 million MT.

The announcement follows news early this week that it was seeking another 125,000 MT from the same suppliers who won contracts at a tender last month.

At that tender, state trading firm National Food Authority (NFA) bought 500,000 MT of rice, mostly from Vietnam.
