Vietnam Cuts Back On Rice Exports

Vietnam’s rice exports in January fell 81 percent in value terms over last year following a government restriction and poor harvest.

It exported around 40,000 MT worth US$15 million in January, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung announced on Jan. 11 that exports for the whole year would be 4-4.5 million MT to ensure national food security. It had been 4.75 million MT last year.
