In a bid to help the state reduce the huge financial subsidy from its annual rice intervention programme, Thailand's Commerce Ministry will propose a 10-year master plan for the rice industry.
The plan was also aimed at keeping Thailand's place as the leading global rice exporter and driving income for local farmers.
The plan will focus on raising yields, reducing costs and strengthening export competitiveness by building more effective trade facilitation systems with efficient logistic services and better storage facilities.
