Kenya on Wednesday moved to allay fears of a trade dispute with Pakistan over importation of rice.

Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs) had stepped up inspection of foodstuffs and other commodities being imported into the country and had blocked entry of grade eight and nine of rice from Pakistan, which did not fit into the three categories that are accepted in the country.

Pakistan has nine categories of rice and the last two did not meet the ISO standards.
