After ten rounds of negotiation, Panama concluded the Free Trade Agreement with U.S.A. signing an agreement that satisfies rice producers from the Central American country and obtaining the best regional agreement.
The treaty eliminates immediately near 90% of the tariff barriers of Panama on products from U.S.A. and the rest will be eliminated gradually in ten years.
In relation to rice, the quota that Panama offered to USA is 4.000 MT of pounded rice and 7,500 of rough rice.
