The Council of Territory of Valencian Community (Spain), has destined 83,000 euros in subsidy to compensate the damages caused by the aquatic birds to rice crops in the Natural Park of La Albufera in Valencia.

The autonomic government has declared that farmers do not have to load with the economic cost derived from protection of the natural spaces and their fauna.

According to the autonomic secretary of Territory and Environment rice fields of the Natural Park of La Albufera in Valencia are an ecosystem that provides food to the fauna and in special to the aquatic birds. The rice fields occupy 14,000 hectares of the 21,000 hectares of the Natural Park.
