China's Jilin province auctioned 630,000 MT of
old crop rice and 378,000 MT of old crop corn to ethanol and feed producers
Thursday, a trader at auctioneer Jilin Grains Center said Friday.
China's rice and corn production is expected to rise to 181 million tons and
141 million tons respectively in the 2006/2007 marketing year, which runs from
October to September, according to China National Grain and Oils Information
Center, a major government backed think-tank.
