As per a resolution of the World Trade Organization (OMC), Mexico will eliminate quotas on long grain white rice imports of U.S.A.

In June of 2002, Mexico began to apply quotas on this rice variety that oscillated between 3.93% and 10.18%, argue that imports of this cereal affected the domestic producers.

The United States asked for arbitration on World Trade Organization (WTO). In 2005 WTO confirmed that Mexico had to review the quotas on rice imports.
