Cuba has improved and introduced up to 18 rice varieties of high quality, which provide a 95% of the popular rice production.
The new varieties are resistant to drought, salinity, and other adapted to the country's different areas: mountains, plain lands, cold and hot zones.
The experimental stations are in Sancti Spíritus, Camagüey and Granma.
