The last estimations of the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain, (MAP), enter a reduction in sowing rice surface of more than a 23% with 90,500 hectares during this production campaign.

The Ministry emphasizes that lack of rains conditions (have been very little rains up to march) have caused reduction of rice crops by fear to deficiency of resources for irrigation during warmer months which are approached.

The estimated cereal production for winter autumn ascends to 18.052 million MT, having reached a double in relation to harvest of last year and 5% below production obtained during campaign 2004.
