The rice producers of the region of Santa Cruz (Bolivia) have asked the government to control the borders to avoid rice smugling from Argentina and Brazil.
According to the president of the National Federation of Rice Cooperatives (FENCA), 170,000 MT of rice is at risk of not being commercialized in Bolivia due to the negative impact of the smugling.
